Arkansas State Youth TBF Championship
By Derek Suit, Youth Director
On May 19th,2007, the first annual Arkansas TBF Youth Championship took place on Lake 11-14 age division Christopher (Boo) Snodgrass of Hot Springs Hamilton.  Seven youths from all over the state of Arkansas competed in two age divisions to represent Arkansas at the 2007 National Guard Junior World Championship in August.
The morning started out with a 35 minute fog delay, but at 7:30 a.m. the competitors took off in Pro like fashion. The bite was tough on Lake Hamilton but that didn’t damper the fact that every one of the competitors weighed in fish.
In the 11-14 age division Christopher (Boo) Snodgrass of Hot Springs bested the field with a 5 fish limit that weighed in at 5 pounds 8 ounces.
In the 15-18 age division Tyler (Ty) Towers of Star City weighed in a limit of fish that topped the scales at 4 pounds 14 ounces. 5-18 age division Tyler (Ty) Towers of Star City
Big Bass of the tournament: 1 pound 12 ounces was caught by Cody Cathcart of Sheridan.
Both Chris and Tyler will represent Arkansas in the National Guard Junior World Championship in August.
The National Guard junior world championship will feature youth anglers from as many as 46 states fishing for $30,000 in scholarships and prizes. Both Chris and Ty will be paired with FLW touring pro for the competition on Lake Hamilton.  The National Championship will take place Aug 4-5 and the junior weigh-ins will take place at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs.
Designed to highlight the best up and coming bass fishing talent in the country, the National Guard junior world championship also provides national recognition for the positive activities pursued by Big bass of the tournament 1 pound 12 ounces was caught by Cody Cathcart of Sheridan.Americas Youth.
Arkansas TBF would also like to give a very special thanks to Ranger Boats, Solar Bat sunglasses and Necessity Jigs. Also, to some local sponsors without their help this would not have been a success   Mac’s Minnows and More of Benton, and Trader Bills of Hot Springs. Their generosity allowed the state championship participants to receive some very nice prizes.
